Date: 14th – 16th October 2016
Venue: Dublin City
Have you ever wanted to have a sneak peek around some of Dublin’s most beautiful buildings or the iconic headquarters of tech giants Google, Facebook and Air Bnb but have never had an excuse to knock on their door? Well here’s your chance…
Open House Dublin 2016 will run from 14th– 16th October showcasing some of the best Architecture that Dublin has to offer. Buildings of all sizes and periods will open their doors allowing guests to step inside and explore swanky digs that aren’t usually open to visitors, ranging from period Georgian homes to the modern tech hub of Dublin’s Docklands. With over 100 free tours and events in the city centre you’ll be spoilt for choice. Tours are provided by expert enthusiasts and will tell you everything you need to know about the amazing buildings of Dublin that have changed the city over time.
There are some serious modern and classic gems opening their doors including Airbnb’s European HQ, Facebook’s creative offices, the home of the Dáil at Leinster House and Temple Bar’s Central Bank. We can’t wait for a glimpse of Irish history in Marsh’s Library where bullet holes were left in books from shots fired during the 1916 rising in Dublin city.
Most tours operate on a first come first served basis and proved extremely popular last year so pop along early if possible and join the next available tour. A small number of venues will be operating booking or lottery systems. Check the event pages for full details. http://openhousedublin.com/.
This year Open House Junior will be running selected events to keep the little ones occupied. Events have been planned around the theme of Time Travel. If you’re looking for that little bit extra, take a look at the Open House Plus Programme.
Keep up-to-date with news, updates and tour info. Details will be constantly posted on the Open House Dublin Facebook Event page https://www.facebook.com/events/805737716236528/ and the Irish Architecture Foundation’s Twitter feed is the hub of information
