Join us on Friday 21st September for celebration of Art at The Dean for Culture Night 2018. We will welcome James Earley to the Blue Room to talk about the collection he curated for The Dean. James will explain how the collection came about, the idea behind the pieces and artists selected, as well as an overview of Irish Artists to watch right now.
Following the talk there will be a chance to take a guided tour of The Dean with James and see some of these stunning pieces first hand.
James Earley is an artist (jamese.ie) and curator (iverna.ie) based in Dublin and has been producing artworks in public spaces since 1997. He began painting letter-based graffiti and played an active role in the Irish graffiti movement. Earley’s work pays homage to his family’s rich artistic past within Irish stained glass art. His creative practice takes its lead from studio works that help inform his large scale exterior paintings.
In 2014, James curated the The Dean’s art collection. The collection represents a snap shot in creative time within Ireland. All artistic disciplines are celebrated: fine arts (painting, print, photography, sculpture), as well applied arts (graphic design, industrial design, illustration). Up and coming talent shares wall space with established artists. With over 40 artists and 250+ artworks, it is a collection that truly represents the past, present and future in Dublin’s visual arts community.
On the night we will also welcome Algorithm who will have some live interactive art on display and there will be an opportunity to purchase prints from the Fat Cap series by James Earley that currently feature in The Dean.
